Sustainable Threads creates design-led, fair trade home textiles made in partnership with artisan communities across India. The Black Forest napkin set is small, graphic, and made for the moments between courses. Each napkin is hand block printed in black and white on unbleached kora cotton, and each of the four carries its own complementary design. Cocktail-size and made by artisans from the Initiative for Displaced Communities, they suit cocktail hours, tea parties, and children's gatherings alike.
Why We Love It
- Four napkins, four complementary designs. The set looks collected rather than matched
- Hand block printing is one of the most labor-intensive textile techniques in the world. Each napkin takes dozens of impressions, with the dye reapplied and the cloth left to dry between colors
- Crafted by indigenous women artisans from the Initiative for Displaced Communities. Their community was forced from its ancestral villages to make way for a national park, and this work provides steady income, training, and safe working conditions
- A genuinely elevated, eco-friendly alternative to disposable cocktail napkins. Heavyweight, absorbent, reusable, and washable
- Arrives with a belly band and hanger that tell the story of the artisans and the technique, ready to give. A unique, feel-good gift for hostesses, tea lovers, or anyone who likes to entertain
